Head of Business Unit - Tool Manufacturer Spain (m/f/d)

Our client, a leading Spanish company, is part of a German familyowned Group with over 2,000 employees that is counted among the most famous manufacturers of pipe tools in the world. The Spanish company consists of a production plant and a newly established Business Unit. We are currently searching the new Head for this structure who will be responsible for all aspects of starting and driving this new sales division with an entrepreneurial and start-up approach.

The new Head of Business Unit is responsible for the strategic and operational realization of the business targets. The role will include developing and implementing short range plans with the ability to set and manage goals and objectives to meet the vision, mission and long-term strategic plans of the business. The Head of the Business Unit identifies new business opportunities and markets to increase the profitable growth and sales volume. He/she will ensure the expansion of the existing product portfolio into new industry segments. So, continuous market research and development of the market in the region are key factors; a precise analysis of the market potential of the product portfolio, market channels, risks and costs is also an integral part of the function. This includes not only targeted supplements to the product portfolio but also a fundamental revision of the USP of the brand as well as the market communication. The incumbent develops business models including projected sales, potential market penetration, gross margins, risk analysis and business feasibility. The role will have a heavy mix of commercial/sales/channel involvement and operational/ manufacturing involvement, and will require the Head of Business Unit to make smart strategic choices around investments, resourcing, innovation and expansion in a transforming organization. The selected individual will be responsible for working with the General Manager of the Spanish organization and will also have a functional reporting line the CEO of the Group to direct and manage the business unit resources to deliver results in all areas. It is also important that the incumbent has the ability to manage an organization which operates on a multi-site level and remote teams.



After his/her studies with a technical or business focus (e.g. Sales, Marketing, Engineering etc. - ideally combined with a MBA degree) the future position holder has gained sound and proven experience in the field of business development / sales in a comparable international environment within relevant industry segments. Such areas are construction suppliers or manufacturer of products for professional users (e.g. tools / power tools). Thanks to his/her strong cooperation and communication skills the future position holder will be able to inspire and convince people for his/her ideas and products. The new Head of the Business Unit is able to identify market potentials, develop solutions for market requirements and translate the solutions into business development strategies and products. Bringing along a strong commercial knowledge, ideally P&L experience from former positions, the incumbent will build up his/her business in a very profitable and strategic way. Based on a good planning the successful jobholder can build up long-term business relationships and has a strong hunter mentality. The candidate is fluent in Spanish and in English – further knowledge of another language is appreciated; experience in handling standard computer software is mandatory.


The future position holder brings along a strong market and customer orientation. He/she is characterized by a structured way of acting with strong analytical and problem solving skills. At the same time, he / she is also a creative thinker with a high selfmotivation and the right sense of urgency. He/she should be a team player with strong communication skills. The cooperative working and communication style should fit the international, matrix-based company structure with multiple stakeholders and with a geographically dispersed team. The position holder is willing to travel on an international level, is able to adjust to different cultures and challenged to realize targets independently and in a team.
