Job Description - Director Data

Data is one of the most valuable assets a business can harness, yet it presents unique challenges in valuation, ownership, and quality assurance. As Director Data, you will take charge of the data strategy, cultivating a robust, scalable, ‘single source of truth' data platform and uniting data efforts across the organization. This role demands a visionary capable of transforming decentralized data operations into a cohesive, agile, and compliant ecosystem.

You will empower a thriving data community across all data-related functions, including data governance, compliance,
architecture, data engineering, data science, analytics, user empowerment, data quality, and operations. Key responsibilities will involve directing change initiatives, developing data strategies, and implementing best practices to maximize data’s value and impact.

The Director Data reports to the CTDO with the mandate to create a transformative data culture. This role will work closely with product teams, business analytics groups, and compliance. The role requires a balance of strategic vision, technical expertise, and hands-on leadership to enhance data capabilities organization-wide.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have an academic background and extensive experience in Data Leadership. You have worked in a product organisation and have experience with managing managers. You are a thought leader in the data field and have a strong grasp of data-driven strategy challenges. The role requires up-to-date knowledge of data legislation and regulations, proven change management experience, and the ability to break down data silos while maintaining collaborative relationships. Strong stakeholder management, architectural insight, and technological knowledge are essential.
