My name is Samir and I’ve been living in Frankfurt for the last 10 years.
Recruiting has been my passion for the last 6 years, and I still love it!
I enjoy exploring new places, whether it's a weekend road trip or an international vacation, traveling is my favorite hobby!
My family and I enjoy working on puzzles together! We love putting the puzzle together and seeing the final result!
What is your favorite thing about recruiting?
My favorite thing about recruiting is the opportunity to connect great talent with companies where they can truly make an impact. It’s incredibly rewarding to help people find roles that align with their skills and passions while also helping companies build high-performing teams.
What are the biggest learnings from your career?
One of the biggest lessons I've learned is that there is always more to learn. The workplace is constantly evolving, and embracing this is essential for staying competitive and keeping the passion for the work alive.
If I could give any young talent an advice when starting their career it would be to be patient, don't be afraid to fail, build relationships, and stay true to yourself.
What led you to found Itaka Solutions?
I co-founded Itaka Solutions next to my colleague, Zejd Dzananovic, when were working together in IT recruitment. We both realized we had a great partnership: one of us had the ideas, and the other had the coffee! 😉
One day, we joked about starting our own company, but the joke quickly turned into a plan. We wanted to create a recruitment process that was faster, smarter, and more enjoyable for everyone involved. So, we took a leap, combined our expertise, and founded Itaka Solutions.
It was less about fixing what was broken and more about building something we’d be excited to be a part of every day. And yes, coffee is still a core part of the business model!

What is one thing you would recommend to companies that not just want to recruit great talents, but also retain them?

What is a typical profile that an IT Recruiting company like your recruits and to which client?
We recruit entry-level to lead positions in Information Technology. Our clients are any company with an IT department in need of a highly skilled addition to the team.
What surprises foreign companies the most when recruiting IT specialists in Germany?
Foreign companies are often surprised by the high demand and competition for IT talent in Germany, which makes recruitment challenging, as well as the strong emphasis on formal qualifications and German language skills.
What did you learn from working interculturally?
Working interculturally has taught me the importance of understanding and respecting different communication styles and cultural norms. I've learned that what might be considered straightforward or efficient in one culture can be perceived as insensitive in another.
It’s crucial to approach each interaction with an open mind and a willingness to adapt, as well as to be aware of the value of active listening and empathy.
What do you think is great about being part of an international network / the Talentor network?
Having the opportunity to learn from like-minded people is probably the biggest benefit for us.
In the first call with Hana Hadzic from Talentor International, we got a great overview of what it means to be part of such a global organization. Especially with such a great network, after our call, we were pretty sure about joining it!
