Welcoming Opera International: Expanding Talentor's Global Reach in France
Opera International brings unparalleled expertise and deep industry connections to support our clients and candidates alike. Focusing on the industrial sector that demands precision, innovation, and top-tier talent, Opera International’s team is renowned for its commitment to excellence and high expertise. This partnership not only strengthens our presence in Europe but also enhances our ability to deliver exceptional recruitment solutions across various sectors, especially industry.
Thanks to its CEO Benoit Charasay, in this article we’ll dive into the story of Opera International, their industry expertise, and how their addition to the Talentor community will empower organizations and professionals to thrive in today’s competitive market.
Let’s explore how this partnership marks the start of a new chapter in cross-border recruitment excellence!
Bonjour Benoit, bienvenue à Talentor! Can you let us know a little bit about yourself? Any hobbies or favorite activities?
I’m 47, happily married for 20 years, and a proud father of two boys. While I spend two to three days a week in Paris for work, I live in Nantes, a charming city in western France. In my free time, I enjoy cooking for friends and family, creating moments of connection over good food. To stay active, I run two to three times a week, often with my dog—though his enthusiasm for joining me depends on his mood! Balancing work, family, and personal passions is a fulfilling challenge that keeps me energized and focused.
What is one thing you would recommend to companies that not just want to recruit great talents, but also retain them?
Transparency is a cornerstone of building trust within an organization. As a company, it’s important not to shy away from sharing all aspects of who you are, including both your strengths and weaknesses. These challenges and triumphs collectively shape your history and define your identity.
When someone joins your company, they’re not just taking a job; they’re becoming a part of your story. For this relationship to thrive, you must foster an environment of openness and authenticity. By acknowledging areas where the company has faced difficulties, alongside its successes, you invite new team members to contribute meaningfully to your journey.
What advice would you give your younger self or any young person when starting their career?
Focus not on seeking love or admiration, but on earning the trust placed in you through integrity and actions; respect and admiration will naturally follow.
One of the biggest learnings from my career is that kindness is not a weakness, and consistency is key.
What is your favorite thing about the recruiting and executive search industries?
My favorite thing about the recruiting and executive search industries is the constant opportunity to learn. Every client, candidate, and industry brings unique challenges and insights, requiring us to stay curious and adaptable. Whether it’s understanding the nuances of a new market, delving into the intricacies of a client’s business, or uncovering what truly motivates a candidate, this field demands ongoing growth and development.
What is Opera International's standout factor for clients and candidates?
It may seem straightforward, but it’s surprisingly rare: we truly dedicate ourselves to understanding the needs and goals of our clients and candidates. Achieving this requires time, experience, and the right team. What sets us apart, however, is the personal connection and trust we build with the people we work with, an element that is inherently unique and invaluable in our field.
What is a typical profile that you recruit and for what type of client?
We mostly recruit for the industrial sector, for any type of complex recruitment project. In this matter, complexity can take several forms: very rare technical expertise, high level of confidentiality, strategical complexity or sensitive situation, international context etc.
We’re ready to assist any client with a difficult recruitment challenge, problem-solving is what we do best!
What are the most frequent intercultural problems? What's the biggest cultural misunderstanding that you've seen?
I think that one of the most frequent misunderstandings is related to time perception. In many cultures, fastness is paramount. In France (and some other countries, of course!), it is sometimes necessary to take some time before deciding.
What I’ve learned from working interculturally is not to take the obvious for granted!
What do you think is great about being part of an international network / the Talentor network?
Being part of the Talentor network allows us to work with the best recruiters in each country (as proven by the Hunt Scanlon Global 40 rank). We can rely on the best experts, with a perfectly tailored offer for each national market.
For our clients, it is the guarantee that we’ll be able to help with any international recruitment project, which is a huge competitive asset.
For us as a company, it is a way to work with great people all over the world, to keep up with a very innovative market, and to learn from the bests in class.
Our field of expertise, the industrial sector, is by nature international. It would be a nonsense to restrict our vision to national borders.
And finally, could you share your thoughts on how Opera will collaborate with our other French partner, Chantal Baudron, to deliver exceptional talent solutions both locally and on an international scale?
We thought together of the best set up to address the French market. With Chantal Baudron, we have a total complementarity. Since decades, Chantal Baudron is the ultimate reference for executive searches in retail, FMCG, luxury goods, and many other fields of expertise. We modestly try to bring the same level of expertise to our playground, industry, and especially transportation, space, defense, energy, or utilities.
We are looking forward to this collaboration in France and globally with the rest of Talentor's partners!
