Commercial Controller

The primary purpose of the role is to support strategic sales & marketing by ensuring long-term sales focus and achievement of business objectives within the sales & marketing operational areas.

It supports management in developing and implementing sales strategies and sales planning and helps to minimize risks and increase competitiveness.

An important component of strategic commercial controlling is the analysis of the market and competitive situation. This activity involves examining industry trends, customer needs, and competitors’ commercial approach to the market. Sales strategy and targets are determined with strong input from these analyses.

Strategic commercial controlling includes sales planning and budgeting, analyzing target achievement of planned sales & marketing initiatives, costs, and marginality in the sales area. Based on results, the necessary resources are provided, and the implementation of strategy is monitored.

Responsibilities

Sales Area

  • Help drive second margin across the business
  • Support price setting & positioning
  • Develop and implement dashboarding tools
  • Contribute setting up & managing commercial team incentive scheme
  • Drive short-term forecasting process

Marketing Area

  • Analyze market data & share insights, working with external database and triangulating with other market sources

Finance Area

  • Drive planning processes for both sales and marketing areas and measure related goals achievement

Other

  • Support from commercial side on key initiatives

Requirements

Competencies & softskills

  • Fluent in English (B2/C1 level minimum);
  • Minimum 5/7 years experience in sales admin (FMCG preferable). Background in commercial / financial controlling will be consided a plus.
  • Experience supporting commercial projects (e.g. repricing, market entry, product launch), on top of core analytical skillset
  • Excellent analytical skills and problem solving ability;
  • Excellent Excel skills; experience with specific BI tools (Power BI preferred) will be considerate a plus;
  • Ability to communicate analytical insights in a concise and compelling manner; ability to interface with wide range of (senior) stakeholders to drive things forward
  • Comfortable working in an unstructured environment.
