International Director Design & Construct

For large multi-disciplinary Design & Construct Marine and Infrastructure Projects (1,50 billion to 2 billion Euro projects) we are looking for an International Director Design & Construct to fulfill position in the Management Team of such projects. You will manage the design and engineering team in the design, work preparation and execution phase. Next to that you will be responsible for managing outsourced engineering work and all design and engineering interfaces within the project and (consortium) partners. Apart from your technical and management skills, we are looking for somebody who is able to work in a challenging and multicultural business environment. On all technical design matters you are the prime contact.

In this role you will be traveling a lot and even stay longer periods of time (this may vary from weeks to months) abroad, especially in the execution phase this can be up to 1-2 years

Your Responsibilities

As part of your scope you will be responsible for managing processes such as interface and risk management and systems engineering. You will lead a team of approximately 5-10 engineering managers, each with their own discipline. Coordinating design decisions and technical solutions in close cooperation with your colleagues in commercial, procurement and operational positions is an essential element of your task in order to reach the best project result. You will be required to take a central and professional position in the design process towards clients, certifying bodies and sub-contractors.

• Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, preferably with a dissertation in offshore engineering;
• More than 15 years experience in Design Management at Senior level in project organisations (preferably in Marine, Infrastructure or Offshore Engineering EPC or D&C projects);
• Strong leadership profile with experience in senior leadership positions;
• Excellent communication skills, both at a personal level and on a more formal reporting level;
• Track record in complex stakeholder management;
• High degree of independence/autonomy, entrepreneurship, ambition and taking the initiative;
• Ability to learn quickly and understand complex systems;
• Willingness to travel and work abroad;
• Excellent command of the English language in speaking as well as in writing.

As this is a very demanding job with high expectations, the financial reward will also be accordingly. As an indication you can expect a base salary between 140k - max 200k gross a year. We like to tell you more in a personal meeting about extra's, such as allowances for staying abroad.
