Investing in People, Growing the Business

by Gertraud Eregger in , — April 2026
In a market where recruiting companies are constantly navigating tighter margins, shifting client expectations, and increasing pressure to deliver value beyond placements, one thing becomes clear: the future of our industry depends on how we develop our leaders today.

That’s exactly what brought together talent from the Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany, the UK, and Bosnia in Vienna for the Talentor Leadership Camp - a space where recruiting, sales, and leadership intersect with a shared goal: to build stronger teams, better client partnerships, and more resilient organizations.

Across a few intensive days, the group didn’t just talk about leadership—they worked on it.

From “Team Lead” to “Team Builder”

A central theme emerged: many of us move into leadership roles because we are strong recruiters or sales professionals - but leading a team requires a different mindset.

In her practical workshop, Michaela Moser (Talentor International), with her long-standing experience in building sourcing teams, challenged participants to ask:
“Teamlead – now what?”

The answer isn’t a title or a checklist. It’s the ability to:

  • Create clarity in a fast-moving environment
  • Enable performance without micromanaging
  • Build trust while still driving results

For many participants, this session reframed leadership as an active, ongoing responsibility—not a next career step, but a new focus to master.

Performance Feedback as a Growth Driver

Selma Grössl, Head of HR at epunkt, brought a critical perspective: performance feedback is not a yearly ritual - it is a continuous leadership tool.

In a recruiting industry driven by targets, speed, and competition, feedback often gets reduced to numbers. But the real impact comes from:

  • Clear, consistent communication
  • Constructive, development-focused conversations
  • A culture where feedback is expected, not avoided

This is especially relevant in executive search and recruiting, where talent is the core product—and how we lead our own talent directly shapes our market credibility.

Leading Through Change - A Global Perspective

One of the most powerful sessions was led by Sonja Polt, a global talent leader with experience in large international organizations.

Her input on leading through change combined real-world leadership experience with practical frameworks - and even a deeply personal reflection on witnessing Nelson Mandela.

The key message:
Change leadership is not about managing processes - it’s about guiding people through uncertainty.

In an industry undergoing constant transformation—AI, shifting client demands, global competition—this ability is no longer optional.

It’s essential.

Why This Matters for Executive Search & Recruiting

The challenges our industry faces today are well known:

  • Increasing competition and price pressure
  • Clients expecting more strategic partnership
  • The need to deliver faster, with higher quality
  • The impact of AI on sourcing and matching

But behind all of this lies a deeper shift:

Recruiting companies are becoming knowledge-driven, people-centric organizations.

And that changes everything.

Because success is no longer just about:

  • Finding candidates
  • Closing roles

It’s about:

  • Building strong teams internally
  • Developing leadership capabilities
  • Creating environments where consultants can grow, perform, and innovate

Investing in Leadership = Investing in Growth

What made this Leadership Camp special wasn’t just the content - it was the intention behind it.

Talentor partners are not only investing in business development or cross-border collaboration. They are investing in something more fundamental:

Their people.

Because in a global, interconnected recruiting landscape:

  • Strong leaders create stronger teams
  • Strong teams create better client experiences
  • Better client experiences drive sustainable growth

In Vienna, this wasn’t just discussed—it was experienced.

Thank you to our partners, investing now the third time in a row in growing their talents in the Leaders4Tomorrow Program: Coopers in Switzerland, Independent Recruiters in Netherlands, visionm in Germany, Itaka in Germany, Collingwood Executive in the UK.
